School Counseling Services
Individual Counseling: Individual sessions are scheduled with students as requested by students, parents and teachers.
Core Curriculum Lessons: Classroom lessons are scheduled in all grade levels throughout the year on a variety of topics. Topics include Study Skills, Student Success Skills, Bullying, Friendship, Peer Pressure, Careers, Test Taking Skills and Personal Safety.
Small Groups: Students will participate in discussions and activities in groups of 4 to 8 students, lasting 6 to 8 sessions, which address the following topics:
Study Skills: Grades 3-5
Listening and Learning
Following Directions
Use of Time
Study Techniques
Motivation
School Success: Grades 1 – 5
Managing Feelings
Self Control
Getting along with others
Resiliency
Assertiveness
Grief /Loss: Grades K-5
Students will explore their feelings and learn coping strategies about the loss of a loved one.
Ready to Learn (School Skills): Grades K-2
Skills such as listening, asking for help, following rules, being responsible, and friendship are reinforced during these group sessions.
Family Changes: Grades K-5
Students will participate in discussions and activities dealing with any type of change within the family, including: incarceration, divorce, separation step families, blended families, etc.
